Day 1 of #LocalLouisvilleShoutOut – RZ Barnwood Art (Works of Art from Reclaimed Materials)

Renee Alanna Zoeller McCartan is a local artist who uses oil paintings on reclaimed barn wood. When she paints, she reflects on the fragment of Kentucky history, in front of her, a piece of wood that is potentially older than the state itself. Each piece is from a structure that had immeasurable sentimental value to the people on whose land it once stood.

Renee studied at the University of Louisville, Hite Art Institute and is a member of the Artisans Guild.  18 years ago, Renee began painting with oils, but only on canvas. In 2015, she decided to give old barn wood a try and fell completely in love.

The attention to detail is evident in every piece that Renee does and she really brings to life not only what she is painting on but the subject as well.

I have included more details about RZ Barnwood Art in the first comments as well as a piece she did for us and our beloved 15 year old Wrigley.
