How are you using Twitter today with your brand? Are you just pushing out messages and not engaging or listening? If you are just pushing out messages, you are missing the power of Twitter.

Twitter on the surface looks like a great channel for getting news and updates on current events, which is true for the most part. But, it is a great channel to listen, engage and becoming part of the conversations in which your audiences are in.

Don’t think sales, but think long-term loyalty and engagement. Be top of mind when someone is ready to purchase from you, not because you used Twitter for sales, but because you built a relationship.

Be a thought leader –  Build community and loyalty with your followers by providing value and a reason to follow along with creating content that is engaging and creates conversation. Listen to your audience and engage back – ask questions and act on the feedback you receive. Twitter can be a real-time tool for what is working and what is not working.

Twitter Advanced Search – Use Advanced Search to find the latest news and world events faster. Find popular people, hashtags and photos for any topic you can imagine.

Hashtags – Hashtags are a great way to target specific customers on Twitter. Know who you are going after and use the relevant hashtag.

Twitter Chats – Chats changed my entire approach to Twitter. Twitter chats consist of a different topic each week (or month depending on the schedule), for one hour that is peer-to-peer with sharing of thoughts and ideas. I have developed many great relationships thought chats in which I can reach out to those peeps at any time for honest insights and feedback. Chats are also a great way to build your own community.
