eMail has huge successes when it is mobile optimized, part of and overall cross-channel marketing, more personalized, part of a customer journey but still has an ROI that is not matched by any other eCRM program.
eMail should no longer be viewed as batch and blast (which still works for many), but it should be more targeted, triggered based on a customers behaviors and delivered when your customers is most likely to read/purchase from you.
