The App Inbox or Message Center placement within the App is very important for engagement and the ability to have your messages read and acted upon. One of the benefits of the App Inbox is that you can send a message to everyone that has your App installed/downloaded and you don’t have to rely on those users to Optin to push notifications.  – Starbucks is the App example that I often look to for how they handle their messages within their App Inbox/Message Center.
