Today marks 19 years at Papa John’s…what a journey it has been and continues to be.
So much learned in that time…sharing some of it here in no order.
Don’t be afraid to ask questions.
Don’t be afraid to fail and when you do, learn from your mistakes.
Teamwork and collaboration are key.
Find a mentor or someone that will be honest with you so you can grow and improve.
You started out as the new person at one point, remember that when new people join the team.
Be positive and encouraging to others.
There is always more than one way to achieve something.
Learn and continue to learn as you go. If you aren’t learning, you aren’t growing as a professional or person.
When someone new joins, pick their brain and get their perspective. We sometimes get too close to what we are working on and lose sight of the end goals.
Be flexible and willing to change. We don’t live in a static world.
Respect others and their opinions.
As a leader, help people grow and reach their potential and grow.
Be a mentor to others and share your experience and knowledge.
Don’t be a micro manager – Let others do their jobs or responsibilities.
There will be people you don’t get along with, be positive and look at ways to work with them.
Listen, listen and listen some more. There is so much to learn from others no matter their experience.
Be a good person to others, you never know what they are going through.
Lead by example, no job is below you.
Show and give respect to others.
Take the jobs that no one wants, this will help get you awareness and show what you can do.
Look for ways to improve and learn even when it isn’t in the budget. There are so many resources available.
Don’t be afraid to speak up and ask questions.
Everyone can be replaced, don’t get arrogant or complacent.
Be level headed, there will be lots of ups and downs.
Set goals but also be flexible and modify as needed.
Have a life/work balance. If you take care of yourself, your mind and body, everyone benefits.
Time goes fast, enjoy what you do.
And lastly, just be a good person, be yourself and treat everyone with respect.
